I am really fond of those sites who makes wonders on the pictures. I stumbled upon a site that makes funny photo effects on your pictures and tried out some of funny photo frames they have. The picture looks amazing! It looks a lot better and more cartoon like. It even has photofunia 2013 which will definitely enhance the photo itself. I tried some of their amazing photo frames and I used one of the pictures I had with my old teammates whom I miss a lot. There were only two of us that's left in our current company. How I wish I could turn back time and spend more time with the wackiest friends there is. I will post these pictures on their individual Facebook accounts so they could also remember those happy memories we had together. I'm happy I've discovered this photo enhancing website, they even post new photo effects every day! I love it.

Annual Appraisal

Yesterday we had our annual salary appraisal. It's a monumental event for all of us because we will be appraised and will be judged according to our performance. The higher the rating, the higher your salary increase will become. When my supervisor coached me about my performance, I am really anticipating a high rating. I only failed two scorecards so I feel I would get at least a ten percent appraisal. To my dismay, I only got 5%. Well, he said it's because somehow, we are having issues with the budget and that the highest rating anyone could get in our cluster would be 6%. To be honest with you, though I'm really grateful, I feel I deserve more. Maybe I feel the pressure of getting a higher salary because I now would be paying the amortization of my new house. Oh well, 5% of my current salary is not low at all. Maybe I just expected too much. At least my salary is still a thousand less of the ceiling salary of a senior specialist so I guess I can live with it.

Just watching Obama's presscon in Capitol Hill and to be honest with you...it scares me. Thousands of call center professionals would lose their jobs if this would happen. Foreign companies who put up call centers here in the Philippines would definitely be affected by this. If they move their companies back to the US and hire locals, what would happen to Filipino call center professionals. I can't and don't want to imagine. Call center industry has been my bread and butter for more than five years and I don't know if I would like to go a different way other than this. It pays well and it's the industry that provides food on our table. If this thing will happen and call center professionals would be out of their jobs, I doubt if the government could provide same amount of jobs to people as what the call center industry provides. I understand his dilemma but I also believe that those companies who invested here in the offshore are really helping not just millions of people worldwide but are also helping themselves survive. They are saving millions if not billions of dollars by getting cheap labor. Outsourcing jobs to cheaper providers abroad allowed American companies to stay globally cost competitive. I hope Obama can see not just the negative aspect of getting offshore jobs. My heart is heavy as I listen to his speech. God your will be done.

Just stumbled upon this video on you tube and I totally agree with the speaker. If you'll gonna compare India vs. Philippines when it comes to call center skills, I would go for the Philippines. We have been under US Colony for nearly 50 years and almost everyone here speaks English. I really don't have anything against Indian agents but since I've been with the call center industry for more than five years now, I can say that I myself rarely understands their accent. Maybe because they weren't born having English as their second language unlike in the Philippines wherein English was being taught to children as young as 3 years old. I stumbled upon this video from the Facebook page of my officemate and just to be honest with you...I felt bad. First, because I feel bad for the caller and secondly, I know this is not a usual scenario in a call center. We do value our customers and we don't usually make a practical joke with them because we try to be as professional as possible. It breaks my heart to see anybody degrading our profession by making prank jokes with their caller. I do value my job, I find dignity on it. It's the sole source of my income. It gives me a comfortable life and I was able to help my family because of it. I really feel bad knowing one person can change the perception of so many people about how call center operates.

I admit, at first I thought it was funny. Imagine a Filipino call center agent asking five bogus security questions to an American client such as "how many bones do you have?", "who stole the cookie from the cookie jar?" and "what is the biggest bird?" Good thing about the call is that the caller is not irate at all. He just laughed about it and didn't paid much attention to the questions. But then again, it's a NO-NO for call center agents to make such jokes even if the caller didn't mind. Some call centers also doesn't allow any electronic devices on the floor. I bet this agent would be given a disciplinary action if not terminated. I hope our US clients won't take this instance against us - call center professionals.

Yey! I won two free movie tickets! We had a celebration in the office that time and our managers put in some stickers under some of the stations and I was the lucky one who got one of those stickers! Me and hubby used this tickets supposedly to watch Johnny English 2 in Trinoma but it's already fully booked. The next screening would be at 8 pm and it's only 4 in the afternoon that time. So we ended up watching "Dont Be Afraid of the Dark" which is a horror film starring Guy Pearce, Bailee Madison, and Katie Holmes. It's not that scary for me, it's more of a children type horror story but some scenes are indeed creepy. Though were not able to really watch the film we wanted, just being with my hubby and bonding the whole day definitely makes it worthwhile. I'm a one happy call center girl!

I've heard so many good things about having a website with a Wordpress platform and honestly, I am thinking of having one as well but I still doesn't have the time to learn about how to go about getting it. There has been a scheme in our company where we do upsell for higher technical support for any issues our callers have for their computers, third party routers and any other products the company doesn't support for a fee. At first, I was quite hesitant to do that. We are not trained for sales talk and our job contract clearly says that we are to provide technical support to our callers, not offer any additional products other than what they have subscribed to. I really can't see myself offering a support to my callers for a fee, but just recently, after closing my first sale...it's not that bad at all. What's good about this upselling thing is that as of this time, we are not required to do that. If there is a chance to offer, then we have the option to upsell. We also get commissions from every successful "recommendation" we provide. And since my first sale, I started researching about the service we are offering to make sure that I could get proper recommendation to the customer. In that way, I would have the knowledge about the service which we are recommending...like what they say, "you can't sell something that you don't know". Currently, I'm one of top sellers of the site and I'm happy with it. Not only did I provide better solutions for our members but I also have earned extra because of those successful referrals. Actually, because of this sales experience, I have realized something about myself. I guess, my passion is to sell. I'm happy whenever I sell something, even when I was young. Maybe the reason why I put up my store is because I love making money out of selling. I believe that everything happens for a reason, maybe the reason why this selling scheme in the company started is to unleash my potential in selling. Oh well, I will park that thought for now... I'll first try to get as many referrals as I can so I could save for my future business...who knows, I'll also be into a selling business someday too.

My sister Ems just recently buzzed me through chat saying she and her family will be coming home next week. I got really excited because its been a year now since the last time they visited our place. She is a nurse working abroad. I've never been a fan of online dating site until my bestfriend/officemate Melai had found the love of her life through it. Their love story began when my friend Melai had signed up to an online dating site. Well, she really don't intend to have a serious relationship through the net. I've been working in a call center for almost 5 years now and many people are asking me what is a call center? A call center is a company who hires people to receive or do outbound calls to provide excellent service to their clients. Generally, call centers are large offices that could have a hundreds of telephone staff depending on the needs of the company.

I'm just so happy with the recent updates in the office. I've learned that the management made some changes regarding our Quality Productivity Bonus. I would not dig deep into this as this might violate the company policy but they have increased the rates of our bonuses. I know I had plans of resigning next year but because of these sudden changes in our pay, I am having second thoughts. Having that kind of increase in our QPB means like having 14th and 15th month pay! I love it! Well, I would most likely just ask to be transferred to our site in UP Science or in Commonwealth, closer to where I plan to get a house which is in Montalban Rizal. So much of future plans but as of this time, I'm a one happy gal. Sharing the good vibes with everyone - Myles.

How It All Began

Just last month, my bestfriend Melai's fiance finally made it in Manila. I was so happy to be able to witness this wonderful love story. I can still remember how Melai once shared to me her eagerness to find his prince charming by signing up to the best dating sites available on the internet, until she was able to mee Josef, a Slovak gentleman currently residing in Ireland. This is how it all began, the dating site Melai used have several dating site features browsing singles, seeing who's viewed your profile, ending "winks" and sending and receiving emails. She saw this cute guy and she checked his profile. Josef then saw that Melai looked into his profile and seems interested in him. He then began sending her emails. They chat as often as they can. Melai would normally sleep only for like two to three hours just to chat with Josef as they are living in different timezones. Josef would sometimes need to be absent for work just to talk to Melai during her rest day. They seem not to get enough of each other. That's how in love they were...and the rest is history. Through time, they've developed a plan to meet each other and that meeting finally happened last February.

They started chatting and in just about a year, Josef decided to visit Melai here in Manila. It was indeed a love story made in heaven. He is a chef in a restaurant and she is a call center agent. Who would have thought that two creatures who came from different parts of the world would meet and fell in love very quickly. They are planning to tie the knot next year. I can't be happier for Melai. They really deserve each other as both are warm hearted and very giving people. And it all started because of the wonders of modern technology.

A New Beginning

Hey there! It's been months since I last updated this blog. It's just so happen I don't have enough ideas on what to write in here to be honest with you. Originally, the theme was to put in any information regarding call center life. How we live..what we like to do...who we really are. I don't know how to start because I seldom go out. My college friends are urging me to explore the world...make things happen...visit places...don't be afraid to take risks...I guees they're right. I need to get out of my comfort zone. I need to try new things...in that way, I'll be able to say that I was able to live my life to the fullest. In that way, I can say that I didn't waste my life thinking of what could have been...but it's easier said than done you know...but ill try...

Family Day!

Last week, our company celebrated what we call Family Day. All it's employees together with their two family members are invited to see RiverMaya and Bamboo's concert at the Araneta Colliseum. I'm really looking forward for free call center perks that our company gives us once in a while to reward us of our hard work.Though I had a shift the day before the event, I still went to the said concert and gave one of my
tickets to my dear friend Jonjon, my bestfriend Mamu's partner. I won;t miss this kind of call center even for anything else. This would be the first time I’ll gonna attend such occasion so I’m kind’a excited.

We arrived at Araneta around 5 pm, I met my friend Melai at the entrance hall and she brought her mom and her cousin. We came in at around 5:15 pm and the concert hall was not even half filled. The concert started at around 6pm just in time for Jonjon's arrival. This is the first time I've seen the new vocalist of Rivermaya named Jason, they sang their hit songs from the past such as "You'll Be Safe Here" and "214". Bamboo is also great and sang his hit song "Hallelujah" and "Pinoy Ako". Though I am really not familiar with most of his songs, I really had a nice time as we joke around most of the time. The concert ended at around 7:30 just in time for our next shift at 9 PM. I really enjoyed this day and is looking forward for more call center events such as this one.

First Ever Team KamiKC Team Building

Yes! We had our first ever team building at Hacienda Darasa in Tanauan City, Batangas. We really enjoyed our stay and I never thought it would be this fun! We didn't know that today is the official town fiesta of Tanauan so it took us about two tiring hours to get to the destination.It's not very far from Manila but the traffic is terrible. We saw how the typical town like Tanauan Batangas celebrates their town fiesta. The typical town combo, the numerous vendors selling all kinds of stuff such as colored chicks, iced candy, children's toys, balloons and the like. They also put up a small tiangge and a mini carnival for the tourists. Though it's a very long ride to our destination, I had a good sleep. I was able to prepare myself for a looong day ahead.

We came to our actual destination at around 11 am. The staff already prepared our hot sopas supposedly for our lunch and since it's almost lunch time, they also had prepared our lunch. Since this is the first time our team had hang out together...we can still feel the akwardness in the air. We had no clue that this would just be the beginning of a fun experience.

We had a short siesta and we also had our picture taking in the afternoon. We also swam for about an hour before we had our merienda served at around 4pm. We girls also played Pinay Henya and we really had a blast. Dinner was served at around 6pm and after that...inuman na! Dito na nagsimula ang lahat.

They purchased 5 bottles of the bar and ten pcs of tang strawberry. I was the one in charged of mixing our drinks. At first I admit, there has been a lot of dead air. But because of one question na "what do you think is the one thing that you do which is out of the ordinary" ayun, naglabasan na ang mga tinatago. All of us needs to tell something and whenever one says his piece, sobrang dami nang lait at side comments ang maririnig which makes it more fun. The star of the night is my bestfriend Melai who sang, danced and made faces that almost made all of us teary eyed because of so much laughter. We also drank Jaggermeifer drink which was brought by Chi and sobrang bangenge na kami lahat. We run out of liquor so we all decided to just call it a day...not knowing, susunod pa pala ang mga boys sa room ng mga girls and sobrang laitan at tawanan na naman ang naganap. They even shot so many pictures na sobrang nakakatawa ang kinalabasan.

All in all, this is one of the best team buildings I ever attended. Just like the one we had in Pansol when we had our first ever team building with Team Paul. I know this is just the beginning of a very tight friendship among our teammates. It's nice to know that I am with nice and friendly teammates until the end of my stay with the company next year. Thank You Lord for giving me new friends in Team KamiKC.

One Day Off

Well, it's my day off! At last! But I only got one as I already had a three day off last week. So far so good. Just saw the movie "The Last Exorcism" but I really didn't like it at all. It's so boring and it really is not what I am expecting for a horror movie - especially that it covers a very broad and serious topic of exorcism. If you are planning to watch this movie, I advice you to make sure you did not come from the night shift because you will definitely get sleepy with the story. It's not that interesting at all. Boring and the plot is very confusing.

Anyways, I just slept the whole day. I enjoyed a home cooked adobo and got reunited with my bed and pillows. Got up at around 12:30 PM and started working on my blogs. Finished three tasks today while watching again the "Illuminati" documentary I recenty found in google video. It's a mind blowing documentary regarding the elite society that plans to take over the world. I would strongly recommend each and everyone to watch this vid as this would definitely open our eyes to our current world situation. I pray God would open our hearts and minds and help us fully understand what it is all about and give us convictions on what we need to do to be ready in the upcoming battle. God bless everyone!

Three Months of Silence

Oh my! I can't believe the last time I posted something in here was three months ago! I got so busy with a lot of things and my mind was occupied with some useless crap so I got no chance of at least take a peek on this site. Anyways, I already have all the time and the world and already have a cellphone with built in planner so as to make sure my blogging tasks is always completed at the end of the day. I promise myself to write at least two articles a day and two reviews daily. I just wish my mind and my body can cope up with it.

Anyways a lot of things happened within the span of three months. Our team got dispersed but I'm happy that majority of us is in one team. My office partner Ice and I are still together so everything should still be the same as it was before. I couldn't believe my ears when I've found out that our former Quality Specialist KC would be our new TL. I'm so happy because we already know him and we know that we're in good hands.

Just earlier today, I've found out that my friend and former teammate Lenlen had already resigned. Though we already know her plans of leaving a month before, I still can't help myself but cry when I finally heard the news. She has been my seatmate for the last three months and I would surely miss our kwentuhan, tawanan and lakaran. One consolation though, I can still see her in Gold's gym and we can still bond while working out.

Those were the majority of what happened in my call center life for the past three months. I hope I could give you an update at least twice a week of what's going on in my life as a call center girl.

ON ANTICIPATION AND LIFE PURPOSE

Hello everyone! It’s been a long week for me as I just recently had a six day schedule last week. It’s really tiring but it’s good that I also had an early schedule which means I can go home earlier than the rest of my teammates. I love the feeling of having to log out my avaya ahead of everyone else. Anyways, on April 10, I will be celebrating my 3.5 years in my current job which means I only need to endure the next 1.5 years! Yahoo! I’m really so excited on what life has to offer me after cvg. I feel that I would be able to enjoy my life more, serve God more and fulfill my life purpose. I need to fulfill that deeper calling and I need to make sure I
can also take care of my family at the same time. In as much as I want to quit now and start another life, I can’t as I still need to save to make sure we’ll be able to survive that kind of life. I still need to manage this kind of line, anyways, I still have a number of stress relievers in my life.This is most likely what will happen after I got my retirement pay. I would rest for about three months doing things I would really love. I would test the waters of being a fulltime blogger – if everything works great and this online job of mine can support my family and my life purpose…I would definitely settle on it. But just in case, worse comes to worst, I guess I would just take a part time job being a tech support agent having to only spend four or five hours a day so I could still find time working online. I would really love having some social life as well so I guess even if things works fine with my online venture, I think I still want to work at least part time to save my sanity, LOL. My heart is joyful and I know that God placed this passion and desires in my heart to succeed In this life and to do my life purpose.
